As I glance at my shelves, among many other items, I see feathers...feathers of many different kinds. Many of us have collections of feathers in our wears. They represent the element of Air; thus, representing thought, communication and travel. One will even find a feather in my car to ensure safe driving. Note as well that feathers from different birds relate to different attibutes or associations of that bird. For example, if working with or on eyesight, one may use a hawk's feather for they have amazing eyesight. Or if working with Morrigan one may use an owl feather, a raven feather for Hecate. Note that all feathers used should be fallen or gifted, not taken! Also note that, unfortunately, many birds carry unwanted bugs so after finding your feather, place in direct sun for a day or so to allow cleansing. I was taught that if one is pondering a question and a feather crosses your path, tis a positive answer. Remember feathers represent Air and communication. Also feathers have been used in protection spells and house cleansing spells. A small bundle of feathers tied with read and green thread can be hung in the room of a baby or small child to bring long life and good fortune. It has been said also that to be reunited with a distant loved one, take a small white feather to a high place and, whispering their name to it three times, cast it to the wind. So next time a feather crosses your path, take a moment to stop and think about the messages passed to your and thank the Goddess for her gift.
Til next we meet.... Be safe and Harm None. Blessed Be!
