Book Review--Faery Tale--One Woman's Search for Enchanment in a Modern World--J. Leonhardt

Let me first start by saying, that although I recommend books to friends and family alike, this is my first time ever writing a review for any book, and I truly felt that this one deserved it, so hopefully you enjoy it, and it inspires you to do a little reading of your own ;)
I bought Faery Tale through a book catalog, the cover was enticing, and the short summary was intriguing. After finishing the book, I contacted the author Signe Pike and asked for her permission to review this book. Like I said to her:
"I have read TONS of books in my life, and very, very few have moved me to laugh, love and even cry right along with it. Yours has! It is a real treasure indeed."

This sums up my view on this book. This book is AMAZING! I loved every aspect of it. In this true story, Signe takes you along with her on her journey through Mexico and Europe in search of The Faery Folk, while in the process, discovering herself. From her Reiki-Specialist friend Raven, to Mr. and Mrs. Brian Froud, to an absolutely loveable group of bikers, you can't help but feel a connection to each and every person in this book! And her 4-year-old faery hunter has to be one of the cutest things ever!

The way Ms. Pike writes is like talking to an old friend. The writing is descriptive, yet not too detailed and long winded. I love the way that she makes you feel comfortable reading her story, and one cannot help but to be drawn into the journey she takes right along with her. She is fun, funny, and at times sad, but you will travel right along, even through the tears and heartache.

I cannot recommend this book enough! This one has definitely earned a special place on my shelf and in my heart, and is most certainly a book that will be re-read many, many times. Please do yourself a favor and read this, its worth every penny! You won't be sorry :)

You can visit Signe Pike online at: http://www.signepike.com or find her page on Facebook.

Go with love, go with light, go with peace and please, go read this book!!!!!

Geomancy--J.Leonhardt

***Just to let everyone know, this is not my own work, its from many different sources, and I do not claim it as my own! For more information on this form of Geomancy you may want to read Agrippa's Of Geomancy.***

Geomancy
“Geomancy is an art of Divination, wherby the judgement may be rendred by lot, or destiny, to every question of everything whatsoever, but the Art hereof consisteth especially in certain points whereof certain figures are deducted according to the reason or rule of equality or inequality, likeness or unlikeness; which figures are also reduced to the Coelestiall Figures, assuming their natures and properties, according to the course and forms of the Signes and Planets;”--Henry Cornelius Agrippa, Of Geomancy.
To begin:
Become relaxed and focused, just as you would do with any other divination method.
After you have become relaxed, you will want to begin divining the first 4 of your geomantic figures (The Mothers). This can be done multiple ways, pick whichever suits you.
1. Die Method--while concentrating on the situation/question, roll a die 4 times for each figure (a total of 16 times, broken into groups of 4), making record of each number that is rolled.
2. Pen and Paper Method--while concentrating on the situation/question, make short marks on a piece of paper, in lines across. Continue making short marks until you feel the number is right (but DO NOT count while making them). Make 16 sets of these lines (divided into groups of four). After the sets are made, make a note of how many were in each set.
3. Coin Method--while concentrating on the situation/question, flip a coin 16 times, broken into groups of 4. For each “heads” that is flipped, note it as “1” and for each “tails” note it as “2”.
Now, begin to make your Geomantic Figures. Each figure is made up of 4 parts (thus the reason that we had 4 groups of four above). The names given to the 4 dots “parts” of the Geomantic Figures are as follows, (with an example figure, made with die method):
Head (Top) * * First # rolled, 6
Neck             * 2nd # rolled, 1
Body          * * 3rd # rolled, 2
Feet (bottom) * 4th # rolled, 5
The first figures that will be made are called the Mothers. For each number we got above, you will make either 1 or 2 dots. For odd numbers, make 1 dot, and for even numbers make 2 as shown in the example above. Repeat until you have a total of 4 figures.
Next, create the 4 Daughters. The first figure is made from the heads of the Mothers and so on down to the feet.
Since this can be kind of confusing, here is an example:
Mothers
head * * | * | * * | *
Neck * | * * | * * | *
body * * | * * | * | *
feet * | * * | * | *

Daughters
* * | * | * * | *
* | * * | * * | * *
* * | * * | * | *
* | * | * | *

Next we will make the 4 Nieces. The first is made by adding the corresponding lines of the first 2 Mothers, the second by adding the last 2 Mothers, the third by adding the first 2 Daughters, and the last by adding the last 2 Daughters.
Remember that when adding together figures that:
[* + * = **], [* + ** = *], [** + ** = **]
Example:
Mothers
head * * | * | * * | *
Neck * | * * | * * | *
body * * | * * | * | *
feet * | * * | * | *
Daughters
* * | * | * * | *
* | * * | * * | * *
* * | * * | * | *
* | * | * | *

Nieces
* | * | * | *
* | * | * | * *
* * | * * | * * | * *
* | * * | * * | * *
Next we will make the 4 Witnesses. Make the first Witness by adding the first 2 Nieces and the second by adding the last 2.
The First Witness represents the querants past, the second represents the querants future.
Next, make the Judge by adding the Witnesses together. Only 1 of 8 figures are ever possible for the Judge: Acquistio, Amissio, Conjunctio, Carcer, Fortuna Major, Fortuna Minor, Populus, and Via. The Judge represents the outcome of the situation/question.
To calculate the outcome:
Good judge + good witnesses = excellent outcome
Bad judge + bad witnesses = bad outcome
Good Judge + bad witnesses = success after a delay
Bad judge + good witnesses = no real or enduring success.

Methods of Interpretation
The easiest method of interpretation is to determine which house governs the question, consider the qualities and properties of the figure in relationship to the house and interpret accordingly. Below is an image of the Geomantic Houses Chart (sorry not perfect):
The numbers 1-12 correspond to house descriptions that follow.

Houses:
1. Vita/Life-1st Mother-the querant, personal life and appearance, beginnings, accidents, new projects, length of life.

A number of factors should be considered when deciphering the figures in the houses:
  • The nature of the figure in the 1st house, which signifies the querant.
  • Locus, is the figure in a favorable or unfavorable house?
  • Aspectus-are the figures in favorable or unfavorable aspect to one another? The aspects are (you may want to look up these definitions in a good astrology guide if you are unsure of their meanings):
      • Trine
      • Square
      • Sextile
      • Opposition
      • Translation
      • Occupation
      • Conjunction
      • Mutation
      • Prohibition

  • Motus-how do the figures pass from one house to another?
  • Paternitas-which figures generated the figure in questions?
  • The nature of the witnesses, judges and occasionally the super-judge (more on that later).
  • Various numerical procedures: I.E. is the total number of the points in the table odd or even, etc.
  • The Via Puncti-the way of the point. This is an astrological method that involves drawing a horoscope in which the positions of the planets and signs in the houses are determined by the figures rather than astronomical calculations.
  • Interpretation (Quick Method): Whilst concentrating on the question/situation, divine 1 figure. Judge how the figure reflects to the matter at hand.
Advanced Techniques
The Reconciler--if the Judge is not clear, then a figure called the Reconciler (Sentience, Super-Judge, Subidex, Subjudex, Fate) can be created by adding the 1st Mother and Judge to add clarity. This new figure shows how the ultimate outcome will affect the querant. You can also create this new figure from the figure located in the house that is relevant to the issue in question together with the judge. The new figure will show how the querant and quesited interact.
The Way of the Points--Look at the head of the Judge and not the number of points, then look above the Judge to the Witnesses, and see if any of them have the same head. Keep moving up through the figures until the line differs. There may be multiple paths or the path may be very short or go all the way through. This path reveals any hidden information. If the Way of the Points cannot be formed, then it indicates that the situation is exactly as it seems.
The Projection of the Points--Count the number of total points in the first 12 figures formed and divide by 12. The remainder indicates the house that contains the hidden factor. A remainder of 1 indicates the 1st house, etc. A remainder of 0 indicates the 12th house.
The Qualities--Eight of the figures are mobile and eight are stable. Stable can also be called direct or entering. Mobile is known also as reverse or exiting. A stable figure will show that a situation will last for a while, whereas a mobile figure shows a situation that will soon change.
The 4 Triplicities-give wider information about the querant or quesited.
  • The 1st triplicity is the 1st Mother, 2nd Mother and 1st Niece. Represents the querant, their health, habits and outlook on life.
  • The 2nd triplicity is the 3rd Mother, 4th Mother, and 2nd Niece. Represents the current events affecting the querant.
  • The 3rd triplicity is the 1st Daughter, 2nd Daughter, and 3rd Niece. Represents the environment, home, workplace, current place, family/housemates.
  • The 4th triplicity is the 3rd Daughter, 4th Daughter, and 4th Niece,. Represents the querants friends, partners and associates, as well as those who would wield authority over the querant.
Astrological Geomancy
Associations:
  • Via-Cancer
  • Populus-Cancer
  • Conjunctio-Virgo
  • Carcer-Capricorn
  • Fortuna Major-Leo
  • Fortuna Minor-Leo
  • Acquisitio-Sagittarius
  • Amissio-Taurus
  • Laetitia-Pisces
  • Tristitia-Aquarius
  • Albus-Gemini
  • Ruebeus-Scorpio
  • Puella-Libra
  • Puer-Aries
  • Caput Draconis-N. Node of Moon
  • Cauda Draconis--S. Node of Moon
Gerhard of Cremona Method--Use selected method to divine 1 figure. The astrological house of the figure is placed in the 1st house. This sign is the Ascendant. Fill the rest of the houses in order. (Ex. If first figure is Aquarius, then 2nd would be Pisces, 3rd Aries, etc.). Read as usual.
Another way of doing this is to divine 4 figures. Add together all the points and divide by 12. The remainder indicates which house the Sun goes in. Repeat process for Moon, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, N. Node and S. Node (note that the order of signs is different than usual!). Then read as usual.
Relationships Between the Querant and Quesited
A figure will often occur in more than one house. In this case, it is considered to have passed to the other house. The new house will add extra information to the reading in relation to the original figure.
Occupation-when the same figure occurs in the 1st house and the house pertaining to the question. If this occurs, the answer to the question is Yes. If the figures are favorable, then the querant will be happy with the outcome. If the figures are negative, the querant may ultimately regret the outcome.
Conjunction-when the same figure appears in the 1st house and the and the house that is beside the house of the question at hand (and vice versa). If this occurs, the answer is yes, but will have to work for the desired result, unless the figure is in the 2nd or 12 house, if this occurs the answer is yes with no effort from the querant.
Mutation-when the figures of the 1st house and the house of the quesited appear side-by-side elsewhere in the chart. This is favorable, but prepare to explore unexpected paths. The clue to these paths are in the houses where the mutated figures lie.
Translation-when the same figure appears both next to the querant and the quesited. Translation is positive, but shows that outside help is necessary and the querant cannot bring about success by their efforts alone. If the translated figure is unfavorable, then the querant may undergo unpleasant experiences before succeeding.
Lack of Relationship-if there is a lack of relationship between the querant and the quesited this reveals the answer is no, especially when the witnesses and judges are unfavorable.
Astrological Aspects:
Astrological Aspects can be used in a geomantic chart if one of the significators is first passed to another house and then comes into aspect with the other signification.
  • Sextile-this occurs when there is one house between the significators. This adds a favorable element to the chart.
  • Square-this occurs when there are 2 houses between the significators. This adds an unfavorable element, expect some trouble.
  • Trine-this occurs when there are 3 houses between. Adds a favorable element.
  • Opposition-occurs when the significators are 5 houses apart. This adds an unfavorable element and there should be some trouble expected.
  • The Company of Houses--this is the relationship between specific pairs of houses in a geomantic chart. The houses that can be read this way are:
      • 1st & 2nd
      • 3rd & 4th
      • 5th & 6th
      • 7th & 8th
      • 9th & 10th
      • 11th & 12th
Look at the significators of the querant and the quesited to see if there is any company between them and it’s paired house.
The company of the querant revels information about associates, friends and family members.
The company of the quesited tells information about the people who are associated with the issue in question.
If there is no company, then it means that other people are not deeply involved with the issue.
A further refinement is that the odd numbered houses in a company reveals the present and the even, the future. So, if the signification is in an even numbered house, it will not be affected by the odd numbered house.
When company exists between 2 figures, you can combine the figures to create a new one that reveals how this company affects the situation/
  • Company Simple--when 2 paired houses share the same figure.
  • Company Demi-Simple-when both are ruled by the same planet (see Agrippa’s Planetary Chart below)
  • Company Compound--when 2 houses are occupied by opposite figures:
      • Populus-Via
      • Carcer-Conjunctio
      • Fortuna Major-Fortuna Minor
      • Acquistio-Amissio
      • Tristitia-Laetitia
      • Albus-Ruebeus
      • Puella-Puer
      • Caput Draconis-Cauda Draconis

Agrippas Planetary Assignments
      • Via-Leo
      • Populus-Capricorn
      • Conjunctio-Virgo
      • Carcer-Pisces
      • Fortuna Major-Aquarius
      • Fortuna Minor-Taurus
      • Acquistio-Aries
      • Amissio-Libra
      • Laetitia-Taurus
      • Tristia-Aquarius
      • Albus-Cancer
      • Ruebeus-Gemini
      • Puella-Libra
      • Puer-Aries
      • Caput Draconis-Virgo
      • Cauda Draconis-Sagittarius
A Company can also occur when the 2 houses are occupied by figures with the same head.
What to do if the reading makes no sense--if no sense can be made at all, add together the figures in the 1st and 4th houses to create a new right witness and add the 7th and the 10th house to create a new left witness. Add the new witnesses to create a new judge. Failing this, add the figures of the 1st and 5th house for new 1st mother, 2nd and 6th for new 2nd mother, 3rd and 7th for new 3rd mother and 4th and 8th for new 4th mother, then recalculate all other figures from the new mothers.

More on History of Wicca...--M. Henry

I am so glad we got the opportunity to chat together last evening about Wicca/Paganism, history of, thoughts, and questions.  It felt really good to share what I know and have learned as well as learning a few new things!  For that... I thank you all.

On that note:  While discussing the History of Wicca, I mentioned that I was taught it began in 1939... after brushing the dust from my older books I found that the reason this was said is that G. Gardner was initiated into the New Forest Coven in England in that year.  He then took what he learned and shared his ideas which some were new concepts to form the first know or recorded Wiccan coven.  He then went on to popularize Wicca in his writings and formed other covens based upon these new concepts and ideas.

I hope this answers the questions regarding dates and remember this is based upon my books and what I learned....but does not mean tis the absolute.  I would be happy to hear from anyone with other thoughts, ideas, or teachings!

Til then.... Be safe and Blessed Be!

A religion of old...but not old. Wicca--M. Henry

It is a common question... What is Wicca?  Are all witches Wiccan?  Honestly, I am familiar with and can give basic answers to these questions, but I am not Wiccan according to the original definition of Wicca.  I know, confusing, but I will try to explain.
To begin with Wicca, from my studies, only showed itself to be a religion in the early 1900's in England, then was popularized by Gerald Gardner.  From my understanding Wicca is a belief system that stemed from Pagan beliefs.  True Pagans, again from my understanding, are those who believe and worship many Gods and Goddess.  Wiccan religion is based upon a belief in a female and male divine spirits commonly known as the Lord and Lady or God and Goddess.  Please note that this is a basic explaination of the religion but not absolute.  I am always open to discussions with others regarding this topic and would love to hear what you all think.  :)  Now, there really is more on this subject, but this is a good place to begin.  Much of Wicca has evolved from Pagan beliefs... and continues to grow.  What I have found to be so interesting and wonderful about Wicca is that it allows each within to choose, grow, and practice without the ridgetity of absolute rules; thus, it becomes personalized.  Religion should be a personal journey, in my opinion.  It is wonderful to meet others of like minds and work, enjoy their presence, but truly a spiritual journey is an inner one.  There are basic things common to Wiccans, but each Wiccan is an individual with thier beliefs.  Sometimes a group of Wiccans come together forming covens sharing and growing as a group, but it all begins with the individual.
Gosh, this is a huge subject!
There are many elements that Wiccans have in common: the belief in a balance in male and female divinity, an appreciation of and working with nature, Harm None and do as thy will (Wiccan Reed), recognition of the Sabbats and Esbats, and a few others we can discuss...there just is so much and I wish to give  only food for thought ... and encourage you to seek more on your own.  ...and don't forget the belief in magical possibilities!
To answer the second question... are all Wiccans witches?  No... but sad to say that most believe so.  Wicca is a religion of which magic is part of; however, Wiccans do not have to practice magic, ritual or ceremonial.  Also note that not all witches are Wiccans because not all witches believe as Wiccan.  (Many witches are Pagan or otherwise)  And, yep!...Pagans are different.
Well... for the beginners, that can be a lot to swallow or simply confusing.  I would be happy to share more of myself and my beliefs...just ask.  For now, I just wish to leave you all with this:  seek, ask questions, study/read... find your spirit within and fly.

Until the next we meet.... Be safe and Blessed Be!

Intent... Most important ingrediant in all magic.--M. Henry

There are a few beginners within this group and I wish to pass on the first piece of advice ever given to me on my path seeking adventure.

Your intent or simply put... purpose for action is the most important ingrediant within.  Intent is not only what you want to do or happen, it is also the why.  Always be sure of your purpose.  Disastrous results can occur or unwanted and sometimes surprising results can occur if your purpose or intent is unclear.  Your magic should only be used for positive results, harming none.  To ensure that this is the case, you must sid down and clearly think about your wishes before going on to perform any magical working at all.   Your energy will be going into your magic so you need to make sure you know exactly wha kind of energy you want going into it.  So please take some time to think on this... be clear of mind, heart, and purpose in any magical doings.
This advice was shared with me many years ago by someone very important in my life.  It is recorded within my book and the first ingredient in anything I do.   Have I had experiences where I discovered my intent or words were not as clear as they should have been...yes.  So my advice to all beginners and those who are not so new....  be sure of your purpose and words and always work with a clear mind and heart.
Til the next I check in....   Be Safe, Harm None...   BLESSED BE!

Facing My Fears--J. Leonhardt

So, in a brave state of mind, I've decided to sit down and blog about my fears (well one of them).

So very few people know that I am horribly, terribly, paralyzingly afraid of the dark. I will not walk into a dark room, I will not turn off the light while shutting the door (I will quite literally shut the door on my arm before turning the lights out). I won't sleep in the dark, even with a nightlight, I have to have either a lamp or a dim room light on. I have to have my legs under the covers at all times, there can't be a closet door open, nor curtains or blinds, and once I'm in the bed, that's it, I WILL NOT get back up period.

I guess this comes from years of having strange experiences in the dark and a step-father that really loved horror movies. And at the risk of sounding like a total whack-job, I'll tell about a couple of them:
Once when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I was lying in my bed and all of a sudden the room started growing darker and darker like there was a black cloud growing above my bed. Even with my head under the covers it seemed to just grow darker and darker.
Another time when I was about 13 or 14 I felt (and watched) the entire side of my mattress sink down as if there was someone sitting on it.

Now, at 22, I know that this all seems so silly. I know that there is nothing in the dark that is going to creep out from under my mattress. There is no bogeyman in my closet, and if I look no one is going to be outside my window. But yet, the fear remains. I dread rituals that are outdoors at night, even though I do appreciate the beauty and wonder of such and most of the time will force myself to attend.

So my questions to everyone: Have you ever dealt with an irrational fear like this yourself? How did you cope with it and/or overcome it, and do you have any helpful hints to pass along that may help me?

ONIONS... not just to cook with:

Onions have long been credited with healing and protective properties.  Eating them is helpful in preventing and fighting the common cold.  It is also said that placing a sliced one in the sick room will speed recovery, and modern research has shown that slices will attract germs too!  It was once said that school boys expecting trouble physically would rub cut onions upon thier skin to help deal with pain.  Also cut onions rubbed upon the sting of wasps can ease this pain.  Hot onions was often used as a poultice to draw bruises and boils.  Magically onions are also used for healing and protection, love and prosperity spells.  Sliced onion can be used to clean and cleanse magical tools, especially those made of metal.  For magical healing rub half an onion over the affected part and then burn it.  It was once said that placing half an onion under the pillow will bring dreams of a lover to be...but may not be good for sleep...the smell is not wonderful for skin and hair.  To decide between two or more partners, carve their names into separate onions and put them in a warm place.  Whichever sprouts first will have the strongest love for you.  Onion skins should also never be dropped upon the floor, this will remove prosperity, but onions can be burned to draw money to you.  My mother once told me that you should have onions in your home...no one will ever go hungry in your home!  Finally to protect your home, hang a string of small onions in your kitchen by a black pin facing the window. (notes from K.W. and B.O.S.)
Remember that this information is simply food for thought from Butterflimoon's kitchen.  Tis a basic to begin your road of learning, spark your own magic.
...always be safe and harm none.

Herb Blessing from Butterflimoon's kitchen--M. Henry

HERB BLESSINGS from Butterflimoon's kitchen:

In a witch's kitchen, herbs are often used to add more than just a little flavor to our meals and if so they should be blessed...I use these simple words as I am adding my herbs:

"Divine Mother of this Earth,
Bless these/this herbs with love and mirth.
And so their powers are released,
Let them flavor well each feast."
Blessed Be, Harm None... Butterflimoon

Elemental Connection Meditation--J. Leonhardt

I just thought I would share this nifty meditation that I wrote. I put forth a lot of time and effort writing it, so I respectfully ask that it not be posted ANYWHERE else on the internet. You may use it for your personal BoS, but do not copy and paste to ANY OTHER SITES!

Elemental Connection Meditation
Close your eyes. Inhale and exhale deeply.
(pause)
Focus on your breathing, allowing it to become a steady, slow rhythm, like a pulse, a heartbeat. Empty your mind of everything around you, feel the sense of being alone.
(pause)
Look around you at the emptiness, at the darkness. Allow yourself to adjust to it and become aware of all your senses.
(pause)
As you become aware of where you are, you find yourself standing barefoot upon a moss-covered stone floor. You feel the dampness, the moisture and the cool texture of the floor beneath your feet. All around you, you hear the gentle flowing of water. Like a small stream, and while listening to it, you become relaxed. Against your skin you feel a gentle, refreshing breeze. It carries with a sweet fragrance that comforts you. As your eyes adjust to the blackness, you see a large, ornate mirror.
(pause)
As you gaze in the mirror, you see yourself standing in an open meadow, full of vibrantly colored butterflies fluttering all around.
(pause)
You approach the mirror, reaching out a hand to touch the image. As you touch the glass, you are surprised to find that it feels like a gentle mist. You notice that your reflection disappears. You hear the soft sound of wind chimes around you as you step through the portal.
(pause)
You find yourself in a large, open meadow, that is completely surrounded by a dense forest. A gentle breeze blows past you, tickling your nose with the smell of wildflowers.
(pause)
As you look up the sky is a beautiful blue with a scattering of white, puffy clouds. As you sit down amidst the flowers, you notice a slight tickle on the back of your neck. As you turn your head to look, you come face to face with a pale yellow fairy. It is no bigger than your hand. The fairy, knowing that you are startled, appears to giggle and you hear chimes on the wind again.
(pause)
The fairy grabs your finger and points towards the ground. You sit down and the fairy shakes its head, like you did something wrong. It lands on the ground beside you and lays down and points up towards the sky. You, finally understanding the message, lay upon the ground and look up. You watch the clouds drift by, and see an occasional bird. Take some time to watch the sky. What else do you see?
(pause)
You find that the more you stare up at the sky, every object in it appears as though you are above it looking down. Though this feeling can be disorienting, allow it to take over you. As you enjoy the feeling of looking down at the sky, you feel a breeze blowing all around you. Listen to this breeze, it carries upon it knowledge of new beginnings, intellect and life. Allow the wind to give you its messages.
(pause)
After the wind has given its messages, slowly allow your focus to shift back to the world around you. (pause)
As you feel yourself lying upon the ground again, you notice that the little fairy is curled up asleep on the ground beside you. You cover the fairy with a soft leaf and stand up.
(pause)
As you stand up, you find yourself once again in front of the old mirror in the darkened room.
As you gaze into the mirror for the second time, you see yourself standing in the darkness, in front of a huge crackling bonfire.
(pause)
As you reach out a hand to touch the image, you are surprised to find that the glass becomes a swirling mass of smoke. As you step through the portal, you catch the smell of burning wood on the air.
(pause)
As you look around, you find that it is dark outside and that the bonfire in front of you is larger than any you have ever seen. All around the fire are logs and stones, and you sit upon the one closest to you. As you sit, you gaze into the fire. Notice its colors, all the glowing reds, oranges and yellows. Notice how it moves and changes. Smell its scent, hear its crackling. Feel its warmth.
(pause)
The longer you gaze into the fire, you notice the flames forming into the shape of a phoenix. As you watch, the bird seems to dance and fly around the inside of the fire. You quickly find yourself becoming hypnotized while watching the bird. Listen and watch the messages that the fire is sending you. They are messages of passion, strength, creativity and will.
(pause)
After the fire has given its messages, you slowly begin to pull your gaze away. You notice, too, that the phoenix has disappeared. You stand up, and notice a bundle of sticks at your feet. You place the bundle of wood at the edge of the fire, then step away as the flames begin to engulf it. As you step back, you find yourself once again in front of the old mirror.
(pause)
As you gaze into the mirror for a third time, you see yourself standing near the edge of a serene pool at the base of a waterfall. As you reach out to touch the image, you find that the glass becomes a gentle sheet of water. As you step through, you feel as though you have stepped into the rain.
(pause)
You find yourself sitting on the bank of the little pool, letting your bare feet dangle in the cool, running water. As you gaze at the waterfall you become completely relaxed, listening to its gentle flowing music.
(pause)
Just as you are becoming relaxed, a sudden spray of water soaks you. As you look around you feel someone grasp your hand a pull you into the water. As you adjust to being in the water, you notice a water spirit swimming circles around you. Allow your mind to form an image of the being.
(pause)
Continue swimming with the spirit. Feel the water, cool and smooth against your skin. When you tire of swimming, sit once again upon the bank and listen to the waterfall.
(pause)
As you listen to the waterfall, you begin to hear the messages of the water. Listen to them, they tell of emotion, love and intuition.
(pause)
When the water has given all of its messages, you notice a silver coin lying in the dirt beside you. You pick it up, and toss it into the pool as a gift for the water spirit. As you turn to walk away, you are once again facing the mirror.
(pause)
As you gaze into the mirror, you see yourself sitting at the base of a huge tree. The roots of the tree are so large that the protrude from the ground around it, forming little arches. You look completely at ease and deep in thought. As you reach out to touch the image, you find that the glass feels like cool, damp dirt. As you step through, you smell all the scents of the forest.
(pause)
You find yourself sitting at the base of the huge tree. As you look up, it seems to stretch on forever. It’s leafy canopy far-reaching, and only small dots of the sun peek through the branches. In the tangled, huge roots around you, you feel a steady flow of energy flowing around and in the tree.
(pause)
Suddenly you feel a firm tapping on your foot. As you look towards the ground, you see a small gnome, hitting your foot with its walking stick. As you look at him curiously, an ankle deep hole appears beneath your feet. Not moving, you watch as a smaller hole appears at the feet of the gnome. He stands inside of it and fills it in until his feet are covered.
(pause)
You stand inside the hole and begin to bury your own feet. The deeper you bury your feet, the more you realize that it becomes harder to move them. Stand in this hole for a few minutes, realize how much like the tree you are. Enjoy the feeling of solitude, strength and stability.
(pause)
After standing in the hole for a few moments, you begin to feel a hum of energy around your feet, it seems to be woven into and flowing through the soil. Allow this energy to soak into your feet and slowly travel its way through your body.
(pause)
As the energy flows through you, listen to the messages that you feel are being carried with it. They are messages of strength, stability, home and family.
(pause)
After the Earth has given its messages, you pull your feet out of the hole. You notice the gnome tapping on your feet again. As you look at it, it holds out its hand. You give it a small, smooth stone, and it disappears into the roots of the tree. As you go to sit beneath the tree again, you find yourself in front of the mirror.
(pause)
As you gaze into the mirror for the final time, you see the energy of all 4 elements swirling around you. You see yourself having all the traits that the messages of each gave to you. As you reach out to touch the image, the mirror disappears.
(pause)
Slowly, the room that you are standing in begins to light up. It is a perfect place for you. In this room is your idea of comfort and solitude.
(pause)
Sit upon the floor for a few moments and remember the lessons that the elements taught you. Allow all of them to come together and weave themselves into your very essence. Know that from this moment on, you are connected to them all.
(pause)
As you finish meditating, begin to slowly breathe in and out. Fill and empty your lungs completely. Focus on your breathing.
(pause)
Slowly allow yourself to become a part of the reality that is around you.
(pause)
When you are ready, open your eyes and stand up. Give an offering of thanks, or a silent prayer for the gifts that you were given.

Basil and Lime Bath Salts...from Butterflimoon's Kitchen

The following is another relaxing and refreshing bath salt recipe.  Always remember that essential oils are used which are highly concentrated so be aware of possibilities of skin irratations or allergic reactions.  If using your own oil mixes, not essential oils, you may need a bit more oils because they are made with a carrior base and not as highly concentrated.
....and remember, these recipes are tried and true from Butterflimoon; however, you may manipulate them to your personal liking! Have fun being creative!:D

Basil and Lime Bath Salts:

You will need 5 cups of sea salt or epsom salt or combination of both, 1 tbs baking powder, 2 tbs almond oil, 5 drops lime oil, 4 drops basil oil.
Mix sea salt, epsom salts, baking powder in bowl.  In another bowl, mix together all liquids then add salts stirring well.  You should let them sit so they can soak up the sent...about two hours min.  Pour contents into containers, I prefer jars with tightly applied lids.  If using corks and storing for later use, you may want to seal with wax.
These make excellent gifts and gift baskets...enjoy!

Be Safe and Harm None.

Balancing Bath Salts from Butterflimoon's kitchen

BALANCING BATH SALTS from the kitchen of Butterflimoon...

You will need 4 oz jar,  Sea salt, 3 tbs baking soda, 3 tbs essential oils (about 8 good drops).  Choose 3 or 4 of the following: Bergamot, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Palmarosa, Rose, and Rosewood.
Add Sea Salt (enough to nearly fill jar), baking soda and oils to jar.  Gently shake to mix, mix well.  Add to tub of running water when ready for use...enjoy!
Note: You can use combination of sea salt and epsom salt as well.
This is a very simple recipe that you can use as is or adjust to your liking.  Be creative and enjoy yourself.  Please note that some essential oils can irratate skin or cause allergic reations so you may test VERY small amount on arm, watch carefully for reations...if truly sensitive skin be sure to have assistance or  ask your doctor.
Be safe and Harm None

Fresh Day Balm...from Butterflimoon's kitchen

FRESH DAY BALM:

You will need:  cocoa butter, tyme, rosemary, mint, lemmon balm, cucumber zest.

Heat cocoa butter slowly and add the other ingrediants.  Stir until mixed well.  Cool and refridgate.  As far as the amounts of each...begin with equal parts herbs and 1/2 - 1 cup fo cocoa butter.  I have been told that each person finds the combination liked best.  Always remember that herbs can bring about allergic reactions or skin irritations so be mindful.

I find this balm refreshing on those hot days! 8)
Be Safe,  Light and Luv!

Consecration of Tools (Using Directions)

As I mentioned previously, I had questions regarding the directions.  The following is one ritual I use to consecrate tools using directions.  Note that there are as many differing ways to accomplish this as there are people...this is something I have used.
From Butterflimoon's BOS:

Within a safe place or cast circle, hold your new cleansed tool up in your hands as an offering to the Great Mother.  Then turning your body to face each direction while holding this tool, say:

"Inspired by Air,
 Enlightened by Fire,
 Cleansed by Water,
 Strengthened by Earth!"

Return to center, "In the name of XXXXXXX (I like to use The Great Mother) I consecrate this XXXXX.  May it serve in Her honor as a tool of wisdom and heart.  So Mote It Be"
Also you may note/say words regarding Harm None.

You are welcome to comment or ask questions....I would be happy to address any!
.... from BOS of Butterflimoon

Directions...

I was recently asked the question, " Why do you choose to stand facing different directions for different purposes?"  As I was explaining my answer I thought it might be something others may be interested in. ...so here is my answer...
East - represents air, white, incense, expression, communications

South - represents fire, red, flame, passion, energy, initiation

West - represents water, blue, cup, emotion, intuition

North - represents earth, green, black, grounding, stability, security

I also will note that other items can be represented by the directions; this is only a beginning.

Be safe, Harm None, Blessed Be
